Every time someone gets a sniffle, it's "call my doctor, I need a Z-Pak". How about a proper diagnosis? If it's a cold, antibiotics won't do diddly! Plus, if they stop taking it the moment they start to feel better, that's just another way to add to antibiotic resistance and the growth of so-called 'superbugs'. Yeech!!! As for puppies and antibiotics, luckily my family's vet seems to be more wary on prescribing antibiotics. When my sister's puppy was diagnosed with juvenile pyoderma, he said it seemed mild enough to treat with a steroid cream. We may have had to resort to an antibiotic if it didn't work, but it did. Besides, can you imagine trying to give a Jack Russell Terror-oops-Terrier, hehe, a pill? ;-) I’m a pharmacist, so I see it on the people side of things.
